McCain is trying to get conservative support on the cheap

McCain has been proving this to me for years and years. He's made quite a career of joining forces with Democrats against his own party's base. Just as Bush has spent the last several years perpetually at war with his own party's conservative base on issue after issue, I expect McCain to only intensify this effort. We'll see more policies like No Child Left Behind, prescription-drug benefits, efforts to strengthen the United Nations, wars to enforce its policies on other sovereign nations, socialism on a global scale, North American integration, amnesty for illegals (despite McCain's recent rhetoric), greater central economic planning in both energy production and health care, massive debt and inflation, et cetera. Which will, in turn, only lead to further losses in Republican members and donations, further losses in Republican elected officials, and more "reaching out" to moderate Democrats as our party lurches increasingly leftward. I've spent countless hours during this last year doing all that I could do to try to stop our party from nominating another Bush--but, sadly, it seems that I've failed. And it breaks my heart.

McCain can forget the conservatives; they ain't coming to his party. If he is really serious about winning, then he should ask Hillary to run as his VP ... I am not joking, that could be a winning ticket for him.

The Global Warming hoax is the last straw. I will not vote for McCain nor will I vote for any Republican office seeker who supports him! NGDW, no matter who he picks for VP. We need to dump McCain and nominate a genuine conservative, one able and willing to sincerely articulate Conservative principles. The Give Us A Conservative Choice Petition has 26 signatures. It needs more. Please join me in sending a clear message to the Republican National Cmte.

Ditto jwessie ray. But I need to know why Barr joined the ACLU.

Yesterday, the McCain campaign sent me an e-mail advertising "eco friendly clothes". What's next, hemp? I agree with Bob. He should ask Hillary to be his VP.

I'm with the guys above me. I will be voting for Bob Barr.

I have been a conservative all of my adult life (56 yrs.). McCain is no conservative. He is opposed to free speech and favors ALL incumbents over ANY challenger. He is for big government and higher taxes. He knows nothing about the Constitution, economics and business. He was heavily involved in the S&L scandal (he was one of the Keating 5, along with old Communist, Sen. Alan Cranston of CA (Cranston was the P&R for the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War). McCain's new religion is "Global warming!" Recognizing this new religion (which same is a long time Communist Party goal to gain total power and control over all the people on earth. McCain, Obama & Hillary hate everything about this country, including our very existence as an independent Republic. Now we are about to be subjected to the theory that Republican Conservatives are being defeated. Yes, they are by Blue Dog democrats who are far MORE conservative. AWAKE AMERICA, we are being attacked from within. Nations are always destroyed from within.

I will donate to the McCain campaign as soon as he reverses his stand on amnesty for the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens that are in our country now and when he agrees that Al Gore's global warming is a farce and a folly. There are several other points that we disagree on, but those two are the most egregious. Deport the illegal aliens and close the borders so they can't come back in and tell Al Gore and his looney leftists that their lies are not welcome and I'll send some money Sen. McCain and not before.

You people are pissing in the wind. The neo-con losers that have hoodwinked you "real conservatives" still have their hooks into those who still have the nerve to call themselves republicans. They promise a rabid right wing program in the primaries, sucking up to the holy rollers, right to lifers and hard line right wingers and then they run like hell to the center when they become your only choice on the ballot. And you FOOLS have been falling for it for DECADES. My God, you people re-elected Bush in '04 after it was PROVED he was a liar and a tool of the neocons. What the hell do you expect is going to happen after that kind of mindless support from the every day republicans, who have NO CLUE how badly they have been duped? Well, I think you now have the party you deserve, made up of liars, perverts and thieves who will say and do ANYTHING to gain power. The fact that McCain. . . I mean McSame is your candidate speaks volumes about this. If the republican party is marginalized, and I pray to God it is, it will still take decades to repair the damage to this country, if it's not too late. I think it is too late. I think we're about to enter into a financial meltdown that will put the great depression to shame, because it will be the default of the government paying the debt that your criminal president very nearly DOUBLED. I weep for this country, I really do, for I think you misguided conservatives have destroyed it in the name of that conservatism, by electing frauds that you KNEW were frauds, but got your votes anyway because they weren't democrats. A piss poor reason to vote for anybody.

You know the saying: "If his lips are moving, he is telling a lie"? Whenever McCain addresses conservatives, this is TRUE! The latest McCain antics on global warming convinces me that he has gone around the bend all the way. He is now going to try to out-liberal career lifetime liberals. How did he fool his Arizona constituency so long? Were they fooled or complicit? McCain has been best friends with libs and neo-socialists dating back to before his Keating Five days. McCain tries to use his POW days as a bed of laurels for the election. McCain sided with John Kerry when the Swift Boat Vets were speaking truth about Kerry. [Watch for a McCain-Kerry ticket] McCain approved when Kerry destroyed the POW-MIA live sighting documents in a bid to normalize relations with the North Vietnamese communists. I am afraid that the GOP as we knew it is dead. If conservatives are to mean anything we will have to reform around a TRUE conservative leader if such can be found. In November, I will be writing in my choices. The time to "pull the party lever" for the GOP slate is past. Until then, I will be "Bloggin on down the Rogue".

McCain, like King George the second, has no respect for the Constitution whatsoever. Under him we will see an end to the Republic within 5-7 years (he supports the economic then political merger of Mexico and Canada with the US) The only viable alternative to McInsane is Ron Paul. It's a long shot, but he does stand a chance of stealing the nomination from the GOP elitists if enough people get involved. At the very least, even if Dr. Paul (aka Dr. No) does not succeed in getting the nomination, his attempt will have two positive effects. It will throw a scare into the establishment which will delay their plans for the NAU merger, and it will help to get more constitutionalist candidates elected to congress, where we need them the most. Go to http://www.ronpaul2008.com and http://ronpaul.meetup.com and find out what you can do to have an impact towards constitutional government.

Conservative Sell-Out To McCain Begins — Led By Richard Viguerie Who Less Than Month Ago Was Denouncing McCain! Printer friendly By John Lofton, Editor, TheAmericanView.com The press release arrived by email on May 8, 2008. It was headlined: Richard Viguerie launches UltimateJohnMcCain.com Will measure conservatives’ level of support for McCain and highlight McCain news and commentary This release begins, not with any criticism of McCain, but with some rhetorical questions: “Will John McCain receive the enthusiastic support from conservatives that he needs to win in November? Or will conservatives give him only grudging support…or vote for someone else?” It is said that Viguerie’s new web site “will offer conservatives a forum to express their opinions on McCain, to discuss and debate his candidacy, and to decide whether (and to what degree) he deserves conservative support.” Viguerie himself says his new web site “will give conservatives an opportunity to speak out. And it will give all conservatives the information they need to make an informed choice in November.” Unstated, of course, is that this new pro/con web site will also give Viguerie an opportunity to add many more names to his direct-mail data base. In any event, Viguerie asks - he’s now merely raising questions about McCain - call it the “Colombo” phase of the sell-out: “Conservatives need to know: Is John McCain, as he claims, a ‘foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution’ who will carry on the tradition of Reagan-type conservatism? Or is he, as some fear, a supporter of Big Government, an anti-conservative, a RINO (Republican In Name Only)? From the point of view of conservatives, is he a friend or foe, a political hero or villain?” Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. So, now the issue of whether conservatives can or cannot, should or should not, vote for McCain is a question for discussion, for debate. But, hey!, what happened waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in - well, early last month, when Viguerie was using strong declarative sentences to point out McCain’s flaws from a conservative perspective declaring that he is indeed a foe, a political villain? I mean, I know last month is ancient history. But, does anyone remember what Viguerie said then? Listing his “biggest complaints,” Viguerie criticized McCain’s views regarding: Who he might appoint on the Supreme Court; abortion (he’s voted to fund Planned Parenthood and is for, as Viguerie put it, “killing embryos for stem cell research;”) taxes; the First Amendment; the Second Amendment; homosexual marriage; amnesty for illegal aliens. He also blasted McCain: For surrounding himself with “non-conservative” and “anti-conservative” campaign staff; and for being disloyal to the GOP. Said Viguerie, in April: “There is simply no way to reconcile McCain’s flirting with Democrats in 2001 and 2004 and his claim that he is, and has been, a conservative Reaganite Republican.” He added that, in the two months since he has wrapped up the nomination, McCain has done nothing significant to reach out to conservatives. “And that fact alone tells you everything you need to know about John McCain,” Viguerie concluded. That’s the word a press release used, “concluded.” But, no. Obviously, for Viguerie, nothing, re: McCain, has been “concluded.” True, he spoke declaratively and directly about McCain waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay last month. But, that was then and now is now until, of course, tomorrow will be now and what was yesterday will be “then.” Now, a kinder, gentler Viguerie has a new web site the purpose of which is to discuss whether McCain is a foe, a political villain whereas 30 days or so ago he was definitely The Political Anti-Christ. Now, on his new website, Viguerie is running stories with such headlines as: — McCain pushes priorities that resonate on the right. — Jack Kemp: McCain’s savvy tax ideas. — McCain says he would put conservatives on the Supreme Court. — McCain takes time to joke with comedian Jon Stewart. — (And my personal favorite though hardly a news bulletin) Navy records say North Vietnamese tortured McCain. Wow! Who knew? — other than everybody, I mean? On Richard Viguerie’s new Let’s-Talk-About-If-McCain-Is-Evil-Rather-Than-How-He-Is-Evil Web site, there’s a banner to click on labeled “Who Are We.” Well, I’ll tell you who you are, Richard. You are, alas, all too typical of those “conservatives” who claim to be Christians but who, in reality, have been, first, Republican Party cheerleaders instead of serving, first, the cause of Christ in the political realm. And because you and other Christians-In-Name-Only have done this, that’s why, deservedly so, the so-called “conservative movement” is dead, face down in the dirt, like the fish god Dagon (Isaiah 5:2ff). You are a despicable bunch. And John McCain is better than you deserve. A footnote: I discussed this issue with Viguerie when I interviewed him on our radio show Number 79. He was not a happy camper when asked about how his faith related to his works. http://www.theamericanview.com/index.php?id=710
